Ijad battle tank

Postby Thaddeus » Sun Mar 03, 2013 7:08 pm

So, I wanted to make an ultimate testament to the awesomeness of the double slope combo. I came up with this:

I don't know why, but this puts me in mind of armadillos. It took me a bit to determine what the front of it actually was, but once I figured it out, I was like "Oh, sweet!" Maybe work in a trans-blue stud or two near the front to help make it stand out?

Lovely little build here, really digging the shape.

One nit, it doesn't really look like a "battle" tank. Its completely unarmed! Armaments perhaps? Or maybe just designate it some communications unit. Looks like that heavy armor could be protecting some serious sensor arrays.

I can just see some massive cannon/missile array being hidden behind those large round parts.

Also, breakdown of the inside please?

YEah, fold up and fold out the BHR. The BlamHammaR is the end all of artillery pieces.

WOW, VERY IJAD. :) My only question is, where are the weapons mounted? :|

I'm imagining the centerline folds up droideka-style and there's something like a hadron collider cannon inside that big cylinder. I don't know if it works that way, but that's what's in my head.

It looks like Thaddeus has presented it sans weapons. Which is generally the way I present mine. Nice job.

This may be just me, but I think that thing looks a lot like a nautilus. In fact, that would be a great name for it. Not that I'm pushing it or anything...

Ok, so I shot some breakdown and attachment pics. This build evolved very organically, and I'm glad I took pics of the breakdown so I can know how to put it together again latter.

EDIT: Just realized you can see the edge of the paper in the first breakdown

As far as attachments go, my main idea had been to attach weaponry on the sides, like so. Also, I had the idea that it had a bunch of individually suited up Ijad inside that it could deploy.

And here is a pic of an individually suited up Ijad:

And, while I'm at it, here's an Ijad chub and station:

This is what I came up with from the breakdown, with my own addition of weaponry. LDD file linked below the image. Would like to see if I got everything right as the photos are a bit dark in places so I had to guess.

That is a sexy take on an already sexy mech, Dukayn. AND I love the Ijad hardsuits, Thaddeus. Those are sick.

Awesome. Ijad^Ijad. I love the guns mounted inside the dish. Also Portal turret. "I don't hate you."

What would be a standard loadout on this thing, in terms of systems?

Uh, I didn't really have a standard loadout in mind... its just more of a customizable, generic frame. :?

Which makes it all the more lovable!

It looks really ace with the side mounted weapons, and Dukayn's take has a wonderful Portal turret feel to it. The Ijad in hardsuits are also inspired. Would have never even considered an idea like that!
