Multiplayer Battle Simulation Results

Postby calculus » Fri Apr 27, 2012 9:08 am

[UPDATE - Game done. Report below]

Anyone want to have a battle simulation over Google Hangout?

I'm not working this morning, will be watching the kids. About 10am EST the kids should go down for a nap and we can start.

If you want to play, add me to a circle here: https://plus.google.com/100468458691193042205 and make up, and keep secret, a skirmish sized company.

I was planning on doing it over google plus so we can have many people, but if it's just you, we'll do it over skype.

I'm planning on screensharing the diceroller and a big map.

Heh. I am at work, so I'll be the commentary here. Still trying to find a headset.

Ended up being a 4 four frame against 3 skirmish. The side with all the artillery and yellow dice won, since they were always shooting, always spotting, and always hitting the same target.

Forgive the big images below.

Thanks for posting this guys!

@Calculus: Why did you pick a central set up? What was your thinking in not using your close assault frame (C) as your final placement?

@Cedric: What order were you planning on removing your attachments? I am guessing d6B , d6Y , d6Y then the shooty one last.
*edit* I really liked your placement of frames and stations, you forced your opponent to go after one or the other while giving you a lot of time to shoot the opposition.

It was the other way around. :D

Calculus would usually drop the d6Y first, because he could still spot in DF range without losing survivability.
And I plain failed at life, thinking, strategy and MFZ when I played this game. Talk about blowing all potential advantages.

Interesting, I would have thought keeping the double yellow special effect going would have been higher priority. Its really neat seeing how other people handle different situation, I am super digging (addicted to?) this forum.

I just wanted to add that everyone loves to win big, but it takes class to lose big graciously. I applaud you both, and appreciate the battle report.

Nowadays, I know many of my tactical errors.
  1. I started in the middle, so calculus had all the space in the world to surround me.
  2. I didn't think about which 'frame to put down first.
  3. I forgot that a 'frame that's dead cannot cap a station.
  4. I was not aware of one simple truth - as long as I stay alive and or keep some stations, in a 3 vs. 7 asset value situation, the attackers need A LOT of good things happen or they will eat it.
  5. My 'frames were not synergistic.
  6. I neglected spot way too much.
  7. I couldn't and didn't focus-fire.
It sure helped me better my strategies.

Yes, in that game I took hits to the yellows, and it hurt badly. Given it over again, losing the blue first would be better.
