Recruiting - Battle for Sieka

Postby schoon » Fri May 11, 2012 4:26 pm

I'm liking the play-by-post stuff that I've seen thus far (great work Forged), and would like to do something similar.

Who's game for playing on this 3D map?

Image

The dividing lines are every 5 inches, so it's a 40 inch "table."

As there are no hex divisions, movement will be a little more free form.

Curious enough to give it a try.

Out of curiosity, how would you conduct a game? Would the participants tell you where they want to move their frames, and have you update the file, or would all participants need the 3D software and move their frames in a shared file instead? If the participants are telling you where they wish their frames to be moved to, how do you determine exactly where that is without a grid of some kind?

I'd be keen to participate in a multiplayer battle sim, but I'm not sure how you're planning on working this one. Your answers would be much appreciated.

For set up, we will place items according to the dimensional grid of the table (i.e. Frame 1 goes at 14" right, 8" up, next to the hill).

For set up, 0/0 will be at the lower left corner (as if the circle were inside a square)

During the game, directions will be more like "Move me at 30 degrees towards the building" or "Move me directly towards the Green Team's station."

For the game, the top (north) of the board will be 0 degrees, 90 degrees to the east, etc.

I really can't imagine that it will be an issue.

Let's get it on! Let's get it on! Let's get it on like ping-pong in Hong Kong!

If...if you got room for another player, I am DOWN.

Dukayn and Trilobyte: wouod you mind if I play as well as administer? That would make a 3-way bout.

I promise to be impartial :geek: (to be honest, I'm more excited about playing than about winning, but don't expect me to be a pushover ;) )

In general, it's a bad idea to play a game you ref. You're going to be making a lot of judgement calls given the nature of this game style, not to mention the dice rolls. Assuming you are honest (which I do), and free from even subconscious bias when making calls, (which is hard), then many of the calls you make will be in your favor (by the very nature of statistics).

For a happy game and community, don't ref and play. :)

OK so far we've got Dukayn and Trilobyte.

Any other takers?

I think Ced23ric said he was 'curious enough to give it a try'.

Fabulous, we have a quorum!

We'll do this as a Skirmish, as it's a smallish board (2 stations and 3-5 frames).

I'll create a topic for the game later today with a slightly improved board.

In the meantime, get those forces ready!

Excellent suggestion!

I'll start the "game" topic when all the forces have been PMed to me.
