I think that would require a living host. Unless the frame was cyber-organicly designed. Hmmm. . .

That is what I was thinking too. Bio-engineered frames anyone?
Brute force and ignorance can solve any problem. The application of brute force and ignorance may create other new problems, but those problem can also be solved with brute force and ignorance. -An old roomate

It just seems that, knowing an Ijad's anatomy, one could design an artificial receptacle for the brain slug's attachers...
and what could grant an Ijad greater coordination then directly controlling a frame?

A naked Ijad has its two palps and some grabby nurbles on its underside. They can't see, feel, or communicate well; their inborne senses are practically vestigial. That's why they ride a ghanat inside a Scrambler, for instance. Ghanats have limbs, toes, eyes, ears, reflexes, and all that good stuff.

But if you want to do some crazy-ass frames, put an Ijad on something else from the Celiel ecosystem! The text talks about flying and swimming animals, too. There are probably little, fast land animals, big, crushing gargants, graceful gazelle-things, and who knows what else.

Why not do the opposite and dispense with the frame altogether, just host the Ijad in some big, tough animal! Like, say, an elephant. Or a T-Rex, or some not-extinct alien equivalent.

From a rules point of view, that makes removing systems a whole lot messier. Removing weapons and armour is one thing, removing limbs is a different matter altogether.

I think it's more an aesthetic difference. But I see your point, it's a lot harsher to have flesh-and-blood creatures getting limbs blown off. (Although since muscle cylinders are full of fluid, wouldn't they bleed when severed? Besides, some limbs count as systems.) But rules-wise they're the same; the combatant is damaged, reducing their capabilities.

If you're not okay seeing animals getting hurt, well, there's a human being (or Ijad) inside every frame, and not everyone can eject. But hey, feel free to not attack my army of alien dinosaurs. That's very considerate of you.:)

Also, what about cyborg animals? Or just armored/armed. Although that sort of defeats the purpose of skipping the frame, but how else can you get rocket launchers on a gorilla? Anyway, those systems you could remove without wondering why the creature wasn't weak from blood loss and/or emotional trauma.
