Universal Language

Postby Shades_Corvid » Wed May 10, 2017 8:01 am

So this he other day it came up in MF University if there is an established Universal Language for the Solar Union. I had yet to have talked about that topic with Joshua so I set out to change that and found an answer.

Joshua - Everyone speaks Mandarin, at least as a second language, and there’s a lot of Hindi and Hindi-inflected English.

So there you go and there is a reason why that also answers questions.

Joshua - Because the major world (Earth) capitals at in Nanking and Jakarta.

Alright, have fun!

OK... but they have to do something about the alphabet - maybe Korean.

What's wrong with the alphabet?

Mandarin has too many characters.
With 2,500 characters you can read 97.97 % of everyday written language.

With 3,500 characters you can read up to 99.48 %, which means pretty much everything!

It’s even more comforting to know that with only 900 characters, you can actually read 90% of a newspaper!

The Koreans have a very nice phonetic alphabet of 40 characters (24 letters, 40 sounds), and it looks really cool to boot.
