This is really cool, but I'm still left with some questions. First, are these just the first names for the Ijad parasite, or are they full identifiers? Second, what are the naming conventions for a bonded Human-Ijad? Say human named Luke Minovsky and an Ijad named Adaj got together, how would they be referred to collectively?

This is the exact question I was about to ask.

There are five gender suffices: person (ih), place (u), animal (teh), and things (undeclined).

So the name in conversation is "Adajih". An Ijad person is "Ijadih".

There are five number prefices:

One (undeclined), two (he), three (bhu), four (ge), and many (au).

There is one prepositional suffix, é.

So "Ijad words" is "Auah Auijadé", or literally, "All the people's words".

They're two different people, so probably "Luke-Adaj Bond". Or "Ehd Adaj-Luké"

It seems to me that their language was probably designed around what ever speech capabililties the ijadi home system local fauna would be capable of, which may not be very human compatable. Or can the Ijadi make noises/vocalize on their own?

Also if they have access to their bondeds digestive system do they pull nutrients out of the blood system or do they have some internal tubes/tentical thingies that go into the digestive track? If so this seems ickier than the surface connective neural bonding that I was envisioning.

Do Ijadi children bond with the young of other species? Possibly do to size limitations or strength of will?

I don't think you want to go down that rabbit hole with this game. Why pick on language when there's no reason they'd be neurologically, or even chemically, compatible?

May I interest you instead in Human Contact for such purposes?

From the host's blood. The nervous system connection isn't like electrodes, though; they reach right through the skin and into the spine.

Oh, totally. It's like having pets. As a culture, they raise a lot of livestock. The kids gotta learn!

Just stumbled across this today, and the way they describe the two girls' connection sounds an awful lot like I imagine the Ijad / Host connection to be.

I already am interested and have read some of the actual game play stuff floating around the interwebs. I first found out about you guys through the lumpley side of things with DiTV, and quickly wandered through most of the catalog and related stuff. Too bad I wont have time to play it all until I am too senile to be any fun to play with.

Yeah, it'll be published as a component for the game and will require Shock:Social Science Fiction to play. It won't take a ton of doing, so, I dunno, December? Don't take that as a promise, of course.

It'll take the least work of all the components on the schedule. Space battles will be the next one, and it'll take more doing (probably including some convention testing) because I'll be messing with a couple of rules pretty hard.

That's awesome! I'm glad to hear that it should be coming out so soon... I expected you to say next year or later.

Yeah, it shouldn't be a big deal. Shock: has existed for six years now and I know how to focus it pretty well. It won't take much design at all; simply some focused writing and page design.

We prefer the term bonded. Infected implies that there is a undesirable affliction. ;)
