It seems like a really bad idea to attempt to enslave or prostitute something that can make your bowels spasm uncontrollably at will. Just sayin'.
I worked on the setting and mecha design, but my opinions are personal. I am not the fun police.

And which have friends/tribe members that use multi ton combat machines. That being said, I don't believe there is limit on the inventive stupidity displayed by junkies or the blind greed displayed by certain criminal elements.

On the other hand, I'm sure there are those who would pay extra.

Definitely. I think any viable exploration of this concept would feature the parasite in the position of power.

I for one think it would be awesome if Ijad-inhabited humans had segmented, chitinous antennae mixed in with their hair. The antennae would be just like human hair, so you could grow, cut, curl, tie, or braid it without it being like getting punched in the nose, but it would look like a bug's antennae.

How would Ijad perceive music?

They've got music and art and all sorts of good stuff. Hell, can you imagine the dance possible when dancers can be all different species?

Do you mean all different species? This calls to mind the question, what are Ijad sensory apparatus like?

Whoa, yeah. Weird autocorrect.

Those long antennae are their ranged eating and sensing apparatus. They can hear, see, smell, feel, and taste with them. their senses by themselves are pretty weak, though; they're mostly used for finding new hosts when they're solitary.

So no weird sensory range abilities then. So we're not going to see a multi-species dance party gyrating to sounds normal humans can't hear?

Though I would assume when they are paired with a [insert host body here] they would have access to the host's sensory organs, da?

And as such, if the hosts have access to senses outside "normal" range you could still get that dance party that MantisKings's after.

This is more of a culture question, but what sort of names/naming conventions do the Ijad have? Or what sort of feel do the names generally have (in relation to actual earth-names...i.e. Cayden is a Celtic feeling name)? I'm writing up my company roster, and there's at least one Ijad-bonded human in it, so I'd like to have the Ijad's given name at least sounding canon.

For that matter, what is the plural of Ijad? Just Ijad, or something else?

Quite so. They get the host's senses, digestive system, and feel their feelings, even.
