bbCode spoiler tag?

Postby Dukayn » Fri Mar 30, 2012 7:10 am

Just wondering if there were plans to incorporate "spoiler" tag bbCodes for large-image-heavy posts at all.

If so, I run a phpBB forum and can provide what is necessary to get it implemented, including a "spoiler" button up next to "Font colour".

Has there been any further discussion on this?

I know I'm necroing, but I figure it's better than starting a second thread.

Given this is the first reply, no there's been no further discussion on this. I'm still Ok to add this feature if people feel it's necessary.

I think it's great for when you want to post a large number of images in a post, but use spoilers to not have them all pop up at once.

It's also nice if you want to put extra material in a post in a spoiler, so people can read the main parts easy, and click the spoilers if they really want to read all your extra thoughts.

It sounds like you're looking for the {S-Block} type of spoiler tag, as opposed to the usual {Spoiler} tag which just blacks things out.

Yeah, that's what the BBCode one I was looking at implementing does. Instead of blocking out spoilers, it gives you a button to press to view what's within the tags. Usually used to hide large image posts on forums.

Second necro:

I would like to see this feature. I have often wondered why spoiler tags and strikeout tags were not included. (I think strikeout tags are good for making changes while leaving the original context, and can be used to help facilitate humor.)

I'm happy to implement both of these suggestions. They don't really have much impact on the forums overall, just give more options.

I'll look into it. Thanks for the necro, I'd forgotten about this and now I have the access to be able to add it in myself :)

OK, so Spoiler tags are now included - there's a button next to the Font Colour tag.

Usage is:
Code: Select all
[Spoiler]TEXT or IMG+URL[/Spoiler]

Example:
Spoiler: show
This is a spoiler! Huzzah!

IMG Example:
Spoiler: show
Image

I've also added Strikethrough formatting for text.

Usage is:
Code: Select all
[S]TEXT[/S]

Example:
Something something danger zone
