Rotating connectors in LDD?

Postby gaberlunzie » Fri Jul 28, 2017 2:05 pm

Hiya. I was wondering if it's possible/how to rotate connectors to be "standing" in lego digital designer? I can rotate them around their own axle (which is fairly useless) and horizontally, but not vertically.

Just started messing around with the program, to know what to order from bricklink, but can't really seem to do that much. On videos, I can see a "wheel" used to rotate stuff, but can't find it in the application.

Thankful for any help!

What kind of joints specifically do you mean?
From my experience, it's best to turn joints before you put anything on them, or else they tend to do weird things to the rest of the model.
Also moving the camera angle helps a lot when turning stuff with arrow keys.
Hope I helped, otherwise clarify what I misinterpreted.
Good luck!

Actually, I just figured out how to do it. I just didn't rotate them in the right order. Thanks a lot anyway!

(BTW, how does the designer treat illegal connections? does it allow them at all?)

Not allowed for the most part, but other programs allow you to turn off collision detection for illegal connections

Ah, thanks! I'll have to search for that. One last question: It seems you can't separate sub-parts, and googling only gave me a very wonky trick that didn't seem to work very well at all. Is there anything that allows that, or some downloadable "expansion"? I'm especially looking for loose hands, as those are very useful. :P

As far as LDD goes, I don't think there is :(
I have heard of people wanting to separate levers as well, but I don't think LDD allows that. Someone else here might know a trick though, I'm not sure ;)
Otherwise I guess you'll have to try other programs, like Stud.io, or have to just add those on in real life.

Go for Stud.io, LDD is starting to show its age.

You can't bend wires and tubes on it, but otherwise it is a great and complete program.
