Greater Seattle Area MoF0's

Postby darksyntax » Fri Sep 06, 2013 11:19 pm

I'm pretty busy, but want to play. I'd like to see a group get-together every couple of weeks (once a month is probably more realistic for me). Reply back with your availability and preferred day/time if you're interested.

Players:
darksyntax - Edmonds
Kaiser1917 - Shoreline
Thaddeus - Kirkland
peglegpete - Marysville (last post 13May2013; still active?)
DRevD - Kenmore
Lasivian - Greenwood
Zak Arntson - Snohomish
VincenteCartas - Belltown
Anyone else in the greater Seattle area?

Possible venues:
http://www.afktavern.com/ - Everett
https://www.facebook.com/GarysGamesAndHobbies - Greenwood
http://www.cafemox.com//Card Kingdom - Ballard
Any others?

The AFK and Gary's are my #1 and #2 public spots to meet and game. There's also the Gamma Ray Games Lounge (http://www.gammaraygamestore.com/). I could probably do a monthly game if it was on Thursday, Friday or Saturday. I have 2-3 other local friends interested in the game, but I can't speak to their availability.

I actually live in kenmore, but yeah in that area...north-ish Seattle :)

Weekends would be best for me.

So with a "Th-Fri-Sat" and a "weekends", it looks like Sat is our target day.

Looking at a map it appears Gary's Games is our closest/most central location option. Followed by Cafe Mox with Raygun barely beating out AFK although parking at Raygun may be an issue.

- I've shopped at Gary's Games, but never played there. How are they on playing games there that they don't sell?

- Same goes for Cafe Mox: I've shopped, but never played there.

As business models go, shop owners provide space for gamers who play games that others can buy there (essentially advertising) or to allow you a space to play games that they know you will buy expansions/accessories for at their shop. MFZ offers neither of these. Something we should keep in mind.

- Also, my preference will always be for a place where I can have a beer. It makes my inevitable loses taste better.

I've got another friend who just finished building his company. We should start looking for a date we can do this.

29th, 30th? How's that sound to other people?
I know I don't have to work the day after Thanksgiving.

Hey guys. I actually live in Greenwood (I can walk to Gary's Games in 5 minutes) and I want to get involved in a game. :)

Lasivian on gmail if anyone want to give me a yell. I have a ton of bricks but have not built any units yet. (I need to sort my stuff out, I have about 4 cubic feet of bricks from my childhood)

Gary's is pretty cool on what people do in the shop, I doubt they will have any issue with MFZ.

Thanks

Kaiser and I managed a couple of games at the last PaxPrime, but I don't know of any other games being coordinated in the Seattle area. I know I'm terrible about planning and scheduling, but there are several of us in the area now. If someone else were to coordinate something...

Actually I can host in the shared space in my house. Plenty of room for 5-6 people and even 2 games.

I would prefer Gary's or some other public spot if only to gather onlookers and hopefully convert a few, buts its a generous offer Lasivian. Seeing as you live 5 minutes away from Gary's, I'd say we just meet there. If Gary's doesn't work out, we can go to your place :)

Edited player list above.

The Seattle area has gotten rather dense with players (compared to most places around the world) and I'd really like to see some group meet-ups. That said, I know I'm horrible for planning and organizing events; anyone want to take up that challenge?

It looks like Gary's Games is our best bet for location. Lasivian, can you confirm with Gary's their willingness for us to stage an occupation and if there are other events or logistics we should be aware of or plan around? I ask as you mentioned you were a 5min walk away.

I can't see why Gary's would not be willing to let us schedule something. (I'll ask the nest time I walk by)

Tho I think the best place if we want a game that "gets seen" is Card Kingdom.

Just discovered MFZ a few days ago thanks to RPG.net and I have just joined the forums. I'm in Belltown but I don't have a single lego piece yet (I am going to solve this soon :)). I agree that Card Kingdom is great if we want MFZ to gain some visibility :)

Regards!

Greetings! I have a great deal of specialty parts if you want to get together and do some trading.

Thanks!

I was introduced to MFZ through some friends who are planning to get started (and I don't think they're on this forum). I haven't built a company yet but would be excited to try! Have any games been organized recently? I'm in Capitol Hill.

Welcome!..and yea we need to.
With so many MoF0s in the Seattle area, its a shame we are not getting together more often.
It seemed earlier that Fridays at gary's would be the best time/place. How about I shoot a date/time and see what we think.
April 19th, noon at Gary's Game.

Reply saying if you can make or not (we also need to see who here is still active)
