Battle Simulation Three - Tactical Puzzle

Here's the next game, but it's only two turns in. Tell me what the sides should be doing next! Think of it as a nice tactical puzzler for your evening...

Twenty four hours, this was a living city - the system capital. Jiriean Face Plague showed up. Everyone ran. It's empty. Was empty.

Stations:

Hospital - Coordinated the systemwide response to the plauge. Valuable data, valuable samples.
Stockpile - Rumored to contain four different kinds of experimental vaccines that were reserved for the highest levels of government.
Train Depot - With the last train out of town, still in the station
Factory complex - The only frame assembly center in systems. Crazy valuable spare parts.

(Light blue buildings count as cover when behind, but can be shot over. Black buildings are tall enough to block all direct fire.)

Start:
R: 49, P:18

Red Artillery fire damages one system apiece on two separate frames. Purple moves back some units to clear out their own objectives, and take a red objective. Red CYBERs head for the hills, hoping to delay contact as long as possible.

End Turn 1/6: R: 42, P:21

Red artillery concentrates on the northernmost soldier, dropping two additional systems. Purple gets off single shots at the scout frame and a CYBER frame, but no spotting, there is no damage done. The Purple scout unloads two SSRs plus a six spot into one of the oncoming soldiers.

End Turn 2/6: R: 42, P:21

Very cool!

...and I like the new map style, even if it's not as artistic as the older ones!

I'm looking forward to hearing how it turns out in turns 3-6!

Purple is getting off shots at the CYBER's near the hospital now, but the shots are poorly spotted and trying to hit frames behind cover. Even with rockets, only one system is hit. (Red choose to loose the artillery system, since it's close up battle now.) Purple's crippled north frame goes down under constant pounding.

By the factory, the red scout has the initiative, but pulls his opponent into moving first. Purple's gunfire is ineffective (again, the simplest rule of this game seems, no spot, no kill). Red scout had great dice roll. And a great CYBER spot on the purple frame. And was only spotted for a 1. It's attack time. The red scout jumps from cover, lands in front and knocks off 4 systems in a single hand to hand roll. Crazy!

After all of the just damaging pounding at frames in cover, I really feel the massive damage effect of good hand to hand combat.

Looks like it's all over for purple at this point.

It was a confused mess in the fight by the Factory/Depot. No damage either way, and the purple frame with just one die survived the turn.

Purple's frame moving up from the vaccine supply got a six attack roll, and foolish stepped out of cover to get a clear shot at the red frame to its north. Normal rules applied though, and no spot, no kill (just one damage die, with no hits). All the CYBER's fired that way then for the turn, taking down four of it's seven dice. (Ooops! I just realized that I've been removing dice on hits, not systems, which has had the effect of giving all the soldier frames an extra system for damage purposes.)

That last map looks identical to the previous one. Did no-one move?

I'll check it and update it. Maybe I uploaded the wrong one. { Looks like it's the right one. There were several small moves, but no major action.}

General plinking around hospital, as Purple gets a soldier frame to the hospital.

The red CYBERs are firing and spotting in support of the depot fight, rather than dealing with the close frames. And by the depot, the crippled purple frame there places a spot, which allows the other purple frame to finally inflict some damage on the red scout. Then the red artillery, as usual, mashes things up a bit.

Almost no movement the last turn, as combat were locked into either melee or cover already.

General gunnery at the hospital, for no kills or damage.

Purple's last depot soldier ended up hand to handing the red scout, (to no effect). The scout planned to run to the factory and capture it the last round, and so called direct fire weapons. It's last SSR (landing with the help of a +6 spot), took out four systems, ending that fight, but the move roll was only a 2. No last minute factory capture.

End Turn 6/6: R: 35, P:15

Quick question:

Isn't that too many systems?

I'm probably wrong, but I'm not sure why.

Each weapon system gives 2 Red dice. You can have a "split" system which gives d6Ra d6Rd or a dedicated system which gives d6Ra d6Ra. So in this case the systems on Relative Sec come out as:

d6Ra d6Rd - 1
d6Y d6Y - 2&3
d6B - 4

This is a semi-random aside;
You have cover taking up spaces, can you enter cover hexes? I always thought cover would be on the edges of the hex, not actually in it.

In my madeup rules for this scenario, if you were behind a cover hex, it counted for cover. I was think of a frame looking over the top of a one story building.
