S P A C E B A L L: Microgravity Aerial Frame Tennis

Postby Aardvark17 » Wed Jun 21, 2017 10:34 pm

First off: I suck at rules and stuff, so I'm not even going to try to make actual rules for this. Since this is mostly an idea with builds, I put it here and not in the Rules subforum. Admins, feel free to move this if this is the wrong place for this kind of stuff. (Honestly I have no idea where to put this myself. General Discussion seems good enough)

Presenting SPACEBALL: A new and fast-paced zero-gravity frame sport!
Image
Frames are given awesome zero-gravity jumppacks with directional jumpjets for zero-gravity maneuvers and a Spaceball racket.

Image
Even just customizing these jumppacks is a lot of fun and I would highly recommend building some form of directional jumppack to anyone.

Image
The game can be played with multiple types of rackets but mainly multiple types of goal-scoring aerial objectives (a.k.a. balls)
Shown here: A Badminton style birdie, meant to be picked up and served. Next, two Classics. These are not meant to be picked up as that would be cheating (hence no handholds). Games can be played with multiple balls at once, differentiated with colored lights.
(If I could retake the picture I would give the birdie a light as well, future sports are all about lights) :D

Image
And, of course, POWER-UPS are involved! (Or maybe not if rules are ever made, that might be too hard. But maybe just three types of power-up, like a powerful shot, a boost, and something else)
Frames are equipped with one signature move module (SMM) each that can only be activated once per game. Shown here is frame pilot Gylles Wenborrow of the Enniot City Engines, using his Firefist SMM.

Anyway, so that's my presentation of Spaceball! Any comments and questions would be well appreciated!
Also, just because it's played with tennis rackets doesn't mean it is played like tennis)

(If anyone would want to help make this an actual thing like Trundleball that would be sicccckkkk! :D )

Haha, that's a super fun concept!

I love the multiple balls and interesting effect with that last pic.

I feel like we need a list of all frame sports until now.
Rooftop Racing, Twank Sumo, Trundleball, this, am I forgetting any?

This is probably the best place for it.

I believe Fault mentioned Mobile Frame Derby, but I haven't heard of that or Twank Sumo. I think a list is definitely needed :D

:o
YES! Thank you so much for doing this, Spaceball sounds awesome to play and I can't wait to see the finished (v0.1) rules!

I am also interested in the concept of this game. I eagerly await the finished rule sets as well

I like the idea of the Signature Move Modular for gameplay and I hope to know more about them. I do have some questions regarding them, but I'll most likely have to wait until the rules are printed before I ask them (just in case they are or not addressed in the rulebook)
