Books with a MFZ feel

Postby The Hydromancer » Sat Apr 22, 2017 10:53 am

Recently read the first two books of The Expanse, and the first book in the new John Scalzi series The Collapsing Empire. Both series offer a great take on space based economics, logistics, fighting for/controlling natural resources, and the realities of extra planetary politics. The second series even has a MFZ like setting of far flung colonies connected by naturally forming jumpgate like phenomenon. I highly recommend both series to anyone looking for ideas that could easily be adapted to the MFZ setting, stories set in a MFZ like world, or just good space dramas.

As a bonus, The Expanse is also a show on ScyFy that while i haven't watched yet, I hear really good things about!
Water is patient.
Water just waits.
Wears down the cliff tops, the mountains.
The whole of the world.
Water always wins.

Hal Clement's works, "Half Life" and "The Nitrogen Fix," are worth a look.
