Postby Dukayn » Tue Nov 13, 2012 2:35 am

As requested by Zero Revenge, here is the Age Confessions thread.

So, just how old are you lot?

Personally, I'm a few months shy of 32 (B'day in Feb)

34. My first Lego was McDonald's sets, followed by small Space sets like http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=6808-1 . I always wanted the nice big sets but my family didn't do well until well into the 90s.

To further give you an idea of the era I'm from, a lot of my favorite childhood toys were Cold War semi-related like StarCom and Kenner's Mega Force.

24. Been playing with legos since I was 3 (quite literally, first "set" was a small, blue bi-plane with a 2x2 trans-clear slope for the cockpit).

I am 33 and get a ton of crap from my wife for playing with Legos, although for our ten year anniversary this year she bought me a few small sets.

Sounds similar to the jet plane I recently made for my 3 yo daughter to play with.

37 here BTW.

45, and was playing with Lego before mini figs existed. Still have a couple of the "proto" mini figs that had no moving parts.....or faces.

25. My woman loves how nerdy it is when I build these things. My four year old daughter is also becoming more and more interested in the stuff I do, and she's even attempted to make "tiny robots" with her own limited parts (mostly from the LEGO Friends line).

Also, like XGundam I've been playing with LEGOs since 3. My collection started with one of the old "Freestyle" (so it was still LEGO System at this point) sets and went from there.

I'm 39. I, too, have one of the minifig torsos with nonmoving arms. I believe it came with an ambulance set when I was 5. I got my first set when I was 4. This might have been it:

I got Dungeons & Dragons in 1981, I believe, and started playing Car Wars in 1986 or so. I've been doing this stuff ever since.

I'm 27. I also have some armless protofigs, the origins of which I'm not really sure of. I cherish my memories of things that used transparent 2x2 slopes for cockpits, and the old Technic universal building sets, from which I immediately started assembling working siege engines, minifig torture devices, and yet somehow avoided seeing a school counsellor.

My wife is enthusiastic about little Lego robots and frequently asks me to build her things.
I worked on the setting and mecha design, but my opinions are personal. I am not the fun police.

I used to have a couple of those in the collection I gave away in my 20s.

I'm just a year younger than Old Man Newman. Let me add myself to the list of people recalling the old proto-minifigs. The first Lego set I can actually remember getting is the 885 Space Scooter. Classic stuff.

Cheers,
Malcolm

Ah, Space Scooter. My Gramma Lulu got me that one at the toystore downtown called the Hobby Horse. I ran around the house with it making whooshing noises.

25 over here, i have a brother whos 8 years older than me. So needless to say i inherited his massive lego stash at the age of 4, haven't stopped since, even after my mother "donated" half my collection of good parts to her godson.

I put donated in quotes because she took em when i was still in the middle of moving out and gave em away without my knowledge... still a little bitter about it. -sigh- At least i indirectly brought a smile to a child. hahaha

My gf is 24, she admires my lego fandom and even partakes in more nerdy pursuits, i've helped her and ZeroRevenge in frame design as i have an encyclopedic knowledge of parts XD
I came from the bottom, now I made it to the top. Newtype flow I'm the hottest on the block. Somebody tell these haters that I'm never gonna stop. Till I kill em all like a colony drop. I'm yellin out Sieg Zeon, Sieg Zeon
