Yeah, I like bulky mecha, but that thing does look like it'd have trouble moving under it's own power, doesn't it?

That's a Chub if I ever saw one!

That's because the Chub is based mainly on the Fatty.

To be fair, I don't think I've said so in a while, but yes, it is explicitly a Fatty homagé; the other two core designs are also nods to great antagonist mecha (Patlabor's Caldia and Macross' Regult for the Scrambler and Hi-Leg respectively).
I worked on the setting and mecha design, but my opinions are personal. I am not the fun police.

Interesting. I've always felt that the High-Leg had more of a Battlemech/AT-ST vibe to it. Patlabor made me love quads as well.

Any particular, specific inspiration for Conscript/Commissar?

Nope, it was just my attempt to make the cheapest possible generic biped circa 2007(?) or so. It's not quite a success at that, but they are remarkably inexpensive little guys. I should update them.

Are you thinking of the 'mechs based on Macross mecha designs?

Not really, I knew about all that "unseen" mess and I'm familiar with early Macross mecha.

I was thinking about the clunkier chicken walkers that FASA used to design in-house.

I like these mecha suit thingies, CADmonkey. Except for the short legs, they remind me of my Convaliers.

Look up 'Maschinen Krieger' and 'Kow Yokoyama'.
