Tank thing.

Postby Fr33land » Mon Sep 26, 2016 8:10 pm

EDIT:

Tanks should not be overlooked as a viable force on the modern battlefield. New advances in Anti-grav technology and the easy swapping of weapons systems can make the modern mobile force seriously consider the mobility and versatility of the Southern Martian Anti-grav Research Team (or SMART) fleet of tank chassis'.

I see it more like some sort of mobile artillery pod. Really interesting!

Right on!
I like your weapon designs and plan to do something better for the turret armament. It was slapped together only as a kind of place holder. I think an outrageous rocket launcher type thing or a sleek railgun type thing would make for a better look than random laser posts.

I'm a little happy with this anti-grav tank thing. It looks ludicrously fast.
I wish I could get the turret to move a bit without screwing with the sleek look though. I suppose I could get some, but it would be at the expense of sturdiness.
I thought I'd share because It looks pretty sweet.
Looks like it could be a fighter jet of some kind, gotta work on some missile pods.

Anti-grav pods are shielded by robust and aerodynamically designed front armour plating.

Magnetic levitation bearings allow for long life and superior performance in low atmosphere conditions for the patented super fanboat drive.

I'm thinking addtional or alternate systems might include fragmentation grenade launchers for close combat situations, which might be at the expense of armour or mobility.
The MKII-SMART tank definitely has Movement 1 - Anti Grav or Movement 2 - Super Fan Anti Grav Defense 1 - Fancy red plates and or Direct Fire 1 / 2 which would be an easy swap on the turret. Flare panels on either side of the turret could be replaced with dual launchers mounted perpendicular to spread a globe of destruction around the tank.

Sophisticated landing gear suited to all terrain.

That pointy one is a lot better. I love how it flows smoothly rather than having huge gaps!

I like the Vic Viper vibe on that one.

That MKII-SMART tank definitely is sleek. Reminds me a bit of the Swordfish II from Cowboy Bebop; though that might be more down to the color and big gun than the specific silhouette.

It's an interesting space you're exploring, and you're exploring perfectly :-)

The second build is very cool !

The second one might look more in place for intercept orbit. The space boat battle version. Mostly I have been inspired by my friend's very accurate modern military battle tank builds. I wish he would share them here. I like the idea of vehicles. I know the primary focus of the game is muscle cylinders and bi or quadraped robots, but to me 'mobile' includes all kinds of weapons platforms. Hand to hand combat is an amazing advantage that cannot be utilized by non frame designs. I like the idea of defense systems or close rabge combat systems that tanks and other non frame designs can use, but haven't got too many plausible systems. Electrified skin? Point barrier system? Self immolation with shrapnel explosives or fire?

Pile drivers, combines, chainsaws, trench diggers, excavators, manipulator claws, drills, flamethrowers, cow catchers, ramming spikes, and mine-destroying flails are all viable melee systems for a non-frame vehicle, and that's not even delving into sci Fi concepts. They already exist in real life.

Thank you, commander.
Mine sweeping flails sounds fun. I suppose ramming your opponent or running them over is cool. Seems like a bit of a cop out if you don't make some effort to justify allotting dice by having something to represent it on the model.
