Has anyone made any progress on rev eng'ing the amazing Zizy vehicles from this post on nobsjustabs?

I'll get on that tonight. Doesn't look too hard.

The only thing that's perplexing me is that diagonal armor angle at the front of the tanks (the ones on the side). What in the world are those?

Rubber hovercraft pads (that collectively look like the air cushion) are attached to them. More info on the Bricklink page.

I take it back. I have no problem building the cabins of the Humwees, but the chassis is tough. I'll think about it for a bit. Some parts are clear, others just elude me.

Okay, cracked the Humwees.

Cedit™: It's not entirely cracked. His front and back bumpers are slightly recessed, which I cannot seem to replicate. But I managed to build some sort of gear works underneath the frame. ;)
Also, the sideskirts of the 3rd more care-like vehicle are shorter in his version. No idea how he did that.

Cedit™²: For stability, you could replace the 3 1x1 round plate with another 1x1 round brick and throw a 4L shaft in there. It would connect the round bricks and the travis bricks with each other, making that part more durable.

Cedit™³: It also helps if you jab a 4L shaft through the 1x1 round bricks and the travis brick that form the axles, to help steady the wheels to the frame. I did both things and the superstructure is actually surprisingly sturdy now.

Did some variants.

And I bricked one of them up, in my usual black/tan scheme. :D

Just touching up where Ced left off. Not too sure about the undercarriage. Something more steady could probably be done, but it would likely use parts that could be put to better use on a frame. If anyone wants the LDD, let me know.

Next up, the MRLS.

Still not sure about the undercarriage, also I might have gotten the backup tire/radar part behind the cabin wrong. Hard to tell, not enough angles & shoddy pictures. Also, I replaced the hovercraft bumpers with technic bricks and round plates to mimic the look without needing the parts used. LDD doesn't seem to have those, anyway. Furthermore, what the hutch are those doublestack round bricks? D:

Next up, the Tank Truck.

Replaced the hovercraft bumper behind the cabin like I did above. The rest should be as accurate as can be, the undercarriage is, again, a guesswork. This one will do.

Oh. Okay. I'll fix the MRLS and reupload it. Cedit™: Done. :)

Otherwise: The rest uses hovercraft bumpers that aren't available in LDD, so I cannot reproduce them properly. Hope the ones I did help anyway.

Awesome work! Thanks! I was having the hardest time wrapping my head around that undercarriage. Now that you guys have puzzled that out, it's time to get busy on a motorpool.

Ced, rereading above I just noticed that you said "Humwees". Nice...

You're welcome! I look forward to seeing what you build with what we've found out.

The "car-like" vehicle with the thin sideboards and inset bumpers has headlight bricks all around. I don't have enough Lego in my backpack to confirm it at work here, and I left my laptop with LDD at home, but I'm 99% certain that's a tile on the side-stud of a headlight brick. I'll take a crack at LDD-ing (or building, if I can find my 3-stud plates) that one up tonight, I think I can see how it goes together.
The undercarriage probably won't look near as awesome, though I'll try to hack your drivetrain into it also. :)
Edit: and I see that my browser at work wasn't loading all the images in the thread, and it was already done. My bad.

These are awesome. I love it that you took the time to include instructions!

Now I need to buy a bunch of wheels.

Finally getting around to posting some stuff from the past few weeks. Thought I'd start here.

Still working on some other vehicles based on Zizy's designs and Ced23Ric's/Tetrajak's rev eng work, but so far...

humwee truck with missile battery
Image

humwee truck with twin AA guns
Image

humwee car with machine gun turret (IIRC the "wrench turret" is from a 5=plate scale car over on No BA Just ABS)
Image

all terrain utility truck (took a while to get a arm and bucket that had some lift AND would fold flat)
