The Hydromancer wrote:So after designing the Mega Chord, I tried fooling around with a Dragon Zord inspired build, but it went no where (for now!). I did sorta accidently get side tracked and mostly design an Alteisen, but that was more of a fun exercise. I might built that one in brick first one day. Today though I was really feeling the Voltron vibe, and after listening to the theme on youtube, and various metal covers, I produced this lil guy. The Voltrub! (Although I'm getting a lot of votes for Volchub as well....)

I'll just leave this here.

Nicely done. The teeth and ears are just perfect.

I think we all knew this was coming. Not really built off the Chubdam series, but hey I can't keep it away from the Mega Chord now can I? Ladies and Gents, the Dragmissar!

On the Ijad colony world of Angel's Grave, a mighty beast was discovered in a near death like state beneath the tranquil ocean's surface. This slumbering behemoth towered over the human bonded pairs, and was dubbed a Gravedragon. The only one of its kind found after months of scouring the ocean floor, it was decided that the best Ijad pilot would bond with the dreadful creature and awaken from its slumber. The Gravedragon possessed a firecesome will, and was challenging to break. It was only when the Ijad approached it as an equal, like a creature of sentience, did the Gravedragon's terrible rage subside and entertain the parasite's offer of bonding. The Ijad scientists suspected that the Gravedragon must be of a species on the cusp of realizing its own intelligence, possessing now an advanced primal mind. Realizing the incredible opporunity they now had to model new species into the prefect fighting beast, they began assembling a new mobile frame to suit its size and abilities. Combining technology between the Scrambler and the Commissar, they achieved a mobile frame that could almost be considered monster power armor; The Dragmissar. To the enemies of the Ijad, it became known by a crueler name. The Dragonslave.

So that B-Gundam was really inspirational. The fact that there existed such a thing, in canon, as a flying Gundam head with a gun sticking out just delights me. I had to make a few of my own in MFZ and IO flavors.

I know that according to my own flavor that the Dragmissar is a Ijad-Gravedragon bonded pair, but I couldn't help myself.

The dragonzord desperately needs a spot for your green ranger to stand on its shoulder as a system. The little ranger figures are great!

I thought the same thing before, but it proved to be a pain given the corner I'd built myself into. Still, decided to go back and try again. Ended up have to cheat, and it still doesn't look as good as I'd like. I do hope to brick it one day, some be alot easier then.

Mebbe a little tall, but it deconflicts him with the head and he can "balance" if the arm rotates.

So they Dragmissar was base off a Commissar so I didn't have that travis block in the center to connect to. The more I fiddle the more I thought, why not try for a Chub base now that I know what I'm doing? So, Dragonmmisar (Dragonchub?) MK II is the outcome. Remodeled top to bottom, trying to get it just a bit closer to the Dragon Zord.

Decided to fully embrace the oversized missile launcher fingers. Because they are awesome. Once bricked I would add those little round bump pieces that I can't find in LDD for the life of me to suggest the missile tips at the end of the fingers. The drill tail has been streamlined considerably, and the back of the frame looks less like Godzilla now. The height is slight taller than the original Commissar based version, and maybe a stud, stud and a half taller than the average Chub if you can believe it. Decided to embrace Atavism's idea of the Ranger as a spot system riding the shoulder as well. Because why not.

Inspired by DeathZero's Gundam X Divider on the FB page, I thought I'd try my hand at creating the divider shield. I knew from the start that the hailrail would be the perfect piece, just took alot of trial and error to get it to work. Once the shield was done, realized I might as well as build the whole frame. Chubdam Xercule!

Insert Fluff here.

System Key:
Double Rifle: d6Rd d6Rd d8Rd
Divider Shield Cannons: d8Rr d8Rr
Divider Shield: d6B
Antenna Array: d6Y

Notes: So the build is focused on the Divider upgrades, but keeps the solar panels. Was originally using the panels as a power source as oppose to the standard Chub power pack, but mayhaps I should add a satellite cannon?

I can't stress enough how much I love those!

Still, this has more of an "H tank" look than the Guntank had, you may consider filling in the front and the back of the lower body too make it extra faithfull to the original.

Ideally I could fill it in a bit more (although I like the double tailpipe look), and shorten the tread lengths while making it taller. The technic chain was linked to me on flickr which I think would work well for a more customizable tread shape.

Been a while folks, but due to a combo of rewatching Gundam OO w/ the gf and Vitor noting on FB how slow things are on the forums, I've been inspired to finish a frame that has vexed me for some time. Introducing the Threshal Hydra, Chubdam of Grace!

Man I really need to get back to writing fluff for these frames....

....but how about instead, another frame? With Chubdams Fenix, Styx, Brimstone, and now Threshal Hydra, I covered most of the Gundam Wing five man band in some form or another. I started working on a Sandrock style frame, but while testing different colors to really make it stand out from the other frames, I was inspired to finally work on an idea I wanted to pursue forever; Ez8! It came out beautifully imho, although my photography skills as always leave something to be desired. Might have to reshoot this frame later with better lightning, but for now I introduce Chubdam EnZo!

That container holding back pack is brilliant, and the shield is simple and clean but still carries a lot form the 08th MS Team style, might steal!

Glad you like the shield, I've tried slimmed it down slightly to make it smoother.

I really love what you did with EnZo. There's a lot of little stuff going on that is very similar to your other high-style anime builds, but the overall aesthetic wouldn't at all look out of place next to more "real" military-style builds. The helmet, the shield, and holy crap that pnuma-tee in the SMG! Very well done.

Thanks! Honestly I think the Ez8 is probably the 'hardest' real robot design Gundam has done, it really leans itself well to the aesthetic in lego. Always wanted to do more 'real' designs, but so easily distracted by my love of Gundam. Running low on Chubdam parts though, so who knows whats next....
